Past and Present Photo Manipulation
These images are meant to represent the concept of where I am vs where I was. This was a personal project that was framed around being in two different worlds as a college student. Upon graduating I was having the decision of where to go next. Having been raised in a small rural town and then attending school in a city, I wanted to keep attributes of both in my day to day life.
Both black and white parts of the images are film photographs that I captured and developed myself. I scanned these images in and used Adobe photoshop to mesh them with digital photographs that were also taken by me. I wanted to embrace the messy mixture of the two worlds which is represented by the images seemingly spilling out of the frame intentionally created by the printed film photograph.
The photograph with the “Thank You” text overlayed, was used as a part of my senior showcase. This event was to show off what we had learned and created through obtaining a degree and I wanted this piece to both demonstrate my interest in mixing mediums as well as be a love letter to my experiences. It was a literal thank you to the years, people, and places that went into my undergraduate studies.
